Thompson-Peer Lab
Grace worked in the lab from the very beginning, April 2019, through June 2022. She earned a UROP fellowship to fund for her research, and presented at the UROP symposium in May 2021. In addition, she earned Excellence in Research, graduated with honors, and was awarded the Howard A Schneiderman prize for her work in May 2021. The Howard A. Scheiderman Prize was established in support of excellence in research to commemorate Dr. Howard A. Schneiderman, member of the National Academy of Sciences and third Dean of the UCI School of Biological Sciences. The prize is used to recognize both outstanding research projects in the Excellence in Research program and outstanding posters.

She is now enrolled in medical school in the DO/MPH program at Tuoro University Nevada in Las Vegas.
[ I am a fourth year Biological Sciences major at UCI. In the lab, I have been studying the effect of low-oxygen hypoxia on peripheral dendrite growth in Drosophila larvae. I wanted to get involved in research after learning about neurons and autoimmune diseases that affect the nervous system in my first year Biology courses. My favorite part about working in this lab is that I am constantly learning and asking questions.

In my free time, I like to decompress by painting or drawing; I am also a foodie, so I am often scouting out new cuisines to try. In the future, I plan to apply to medical school where I hope to continue to pursue research, learn about the applications of research, and serve my community. ]
